Craig Crenshaw

Southern University graduate Brig. Gen. Craig Crenshaw has been nominated by President Barack Obama to receive a second star, promoting him to the rank of Major General in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Crenshaw, 52, has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Southern. He is one of the 10 military generals who are SU graduates. He is the only Marine among the generals. The other nine are from the U.S. Army.
The Pensacola, Fla., native was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marines in 1984 through the NROTC Scholarship Program at SU. Crenshaw has a Master of Arts in Procurement and Acquisitions Management from Webster University, in St. Louis, a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defense University, Washington, D.C.
Crenshaw is currently the assistant deputy commandant for Installations Logistics at headquarters Marine Corps.

I served as
an Electronic Warfare Signals Intelligence Analyst in the US Army
from April 1983 - June 1998. My assignments included the Defense
Language Institute at the Presidio of Monterrey, CA; 163rd Military
Intelligence BN at Ft. Hood, TX, 732ND MI Battalion at Schofield
Bks, HI, and 7TH Special Forces Group at Ft. Bragg, NC. I was
a Czech linguist, Jump Master, and also Air Assault qualified.
I retired under the early retirement program after 15 years of
service as a Sergeant First Class.

I entered as a PFC (CH-47) Chinook crew chief and mechanic, serving
at Camp Humphries Korea and Ft Campbell KY in this capacity. I
was selected and went to Warrant Officer Flight training in 1986
and served as a UH60 Blackhawk pilot and Aviation Safety Officer
at Camp Zama Japan, K-16 Korea, and Hawaii and for 3 tours at
Ft Bragg NC.
I served in
Desert Shield/Desert Storm with the 82nd Airborne, Operation Restore
Democracy (Haiti) with 4/2 ACR and Operation Enduring Freedom
in Afghanistan with the 25th ID.
I retired
from the Army as a CW4 in August 2005."
